IMMERSION 4K HAPTICS INTERFACE

UI/UX - Direction + Design + Animation

One of the biggest challenges with modern car interfaces is the removal of physical buttons, which has led to a loss of spatial awareness within the vehicle—drivers no longer know exactly where their controls are by feel alone. This change forces drivers to take their eyes off the road to perform simple tasks like adjusting the radio or the AC. Immersion came to Perception with a unique challenge: what if we could combine a touchscreen with haptic feedback and gesture controls, enabling drivers to keep their eyes on the road?

Our solution was a display divided into two main sections: one half dedicated to simple gesture controls, while the other half functioned as a traditional touchscreen. Each gesture was designed to be intuitive and adaptable—single-finger gestures for common actions like adjusting volume or skipping tracks, two-finger gestures for climate settings, three-finger gestures for general car controls, and so on. Though this system didn’t reach full production, it was a valuable exercise in reimagining how we interact with everyday technology and enhancing usability.
